Dewsbury has been a market town since 1318. Seven centuries on, its town centre is still full of people who make things, mend things, bake things and know their customers by name.

Dewsbury Town exists to put every one of those shops in one place — the butchers and bakers, the tailors and jewellers, the market traders and the makers. Not a listings site. A shop window for the whole town, with the story of the person behind every counter.

This was the heart of the heavy woollen district — the towns that clothed the world in shoddy and mungo, recycled wool spun into new cloth before recycling had a name. That inventiveness never left. It just moved behind different counters.
